Glyndwr "Glyn" Shaw (born 11 April 1951 (1951-04-11) (age 60) in Rhigos) is a Welsh former dual-code international rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s and '80s who at representative level has played rugby union (RU) for Wales, and at club level for Neath RFC, playing at Prop forward, i.e. number 1 or 3, and at representative level has played rugby league (RL) for Great Britain, and Wales, and at club level for Widnes, playing at Prop, or Second-row, i.e. number 8 or 10, or, 11 or 12.[1]

International honours

Glyn Shaw won caps for Wales (RU) while at Neath RFC in 1972 against New Zealand, in 1973 against England, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Australia, in 1974 against Scotland, Ireland, France, and England, and in 1977 against Ireland, and France, won caps for Wales (RL) while at Widnes in 1978 against France, and Australia, in 1980 against France, and England, in 1981 against England, in 1982 against Australia, and in 1984 against England, and won a cap for Great Britain (RL) while at Widnes in 1980 against New Zealand.[2]

Challenge Cup final appearances

Glyn Shaw played in Widnes’s 12-3 victory over Wakefield Trinity in the 1978–79 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 5 May 1979, and the 18-9 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers in the 1980–81 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 2 May 1981.

Personal life

Shaw is currently married with two daughters, born in 1984 and 1988 respectively. He separated from his wife in December 2011. He lives in Widnes in Cheshire, England.
